Your Questions, Answered

Ok, you’ve booked your wax. Go you! We know that it can be a little intimidating, and you may have some questions, so we’re here to answer them!

This is my first wax, what’s the most important thing to know?

Being nervous is normal! Everyone has some jitters if this is their first wax, it’s totally normal and you’re not alone. What is awesome is that we do this every day and will make you feel as comfortable as possible! Let us know if you’re nervous and we’ll talk you through everything.

How long does the hair have to be?

We recommend that you have at least a ¼” of hair for a wax (or about 3 weeks from your last shave/wax). It’s important that the hair is long enough, and if it’s not, we’ll ask you to reschedule.

Will it hurt?

There will be some discomfort at times, but most people end up saying that it wasn’t nearly as bad as they thought. The “wax” we use is specifically engineered to help reduce pain, swelling, and irritation. Plus, our over ten years of experience helps, we know what we’re doing and how to make this the least painful experience as possible.

How should I prepare for a wax?

The best way to get your skin ready for a wax is to exfoliate with a dry-brush a day before your wax (don’t do it day of!). By using a dry brush on the area you’re getting waxed, you’ll remove any dead skin and actually help reduce discomfort. You should also avoid intense sun exposure, like tanning beds, 48 hours before and after your wax. Read more here.

What about after a wax?

Congrats, you made it! Aftercare is pretty easy. Avoid intense sun exposure (like tanning beds) for two days, and give your skin some love. With the magic of virgin coconut oil, you can invigorate, soften, and reduce inflammation of your skin. If you’re looking for something more “official” we recommend Finipil, an antiseptic cream that soothes your skin while protecting the empty hair follicle. What kind of wax do you use?

We are obsessed with NuFree – it’s the gold standard in hair removal because it’s a medical grade, soy-based vegan resin that can be used on over 98% of the body and it’s made right here in the USA. Nufree is not made from sugars, wax or honey, and is the only soy-based hair removal system on the planet. Because Nufree isn’t a wax and doesn’t stick to the skin, you won’t experience the pain, discomfort, and irritation from wax-based processes. You also won’t experience redness or swelling that waxes cause for some skin types. If you have sensitive skin, this is the perfect “wax” for you!

What’s a Brazilian Wax?

“The Holy Grail of Waxing”… “The Queen Mother of Hairlessness”… “The wax that will make your partner buy you diamonds!” Not really, but it’s pretty dang awesome. A Brazilian is everything: top, middle, backside, inner thighs and often the belly. It’s all included if you wax with us.

And when you say backside….?

Yep! “I have hair back there???” We love this question! Well, of course you do! Everyone does. The “backside” is exactly what it sounds like: your butt crack. And having it waxed is awesome!

What if I want to keep some hair…down there?

That’s great! This is called an extended bikini wax, and this is as far in and down as you would like. It usually ends up as a “landing strip” or triangle patch being left on the pubis and a bit further in on the inner thigh. It does not include the labia or backside. You can add the backside when you book.

Can you do shapes?

If you’d like a triangle or landing strip, we can do this. However, we DO NOT do fancy shapes, stars or initials or butterflies or unicorns, that sort of silliness. We’d have to charge a lot for that sort of thing because of the time involved and we’d prefer not to raise our prices.

How often should I wax?

Every 4-6 weeks. Or depending on how hairless you prefer to be, every 2-8 weeks. It’s better to wax at regular intervals because it’s less painful, but you might want to come in every 2 weeks or wait 8 weeks, it’s really up to you. It is important not to abandon waxing after your first appointment. It usually takes 2-3 appointments to get into a rhythm and really experience the true benefits of waxing.

I started my period, should I reschedule?

Nope! Just wear a tampon and don’t worry about it. Though, if you feel uncomfortable we totally understand, and you can reschedule your appointment. If this happens please notify us as soon as possible.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask, we’re here to make your experience as comfortable as possible.
