We’re asked a lot about our recommended skincare products and what’s the best before and after care for your wax. So we’re here to tell you the products we actually use on ourselves, and why we love them! The best part is that we’re not going to tell you that you need the $75 cream or formula, but instead some basic items you can pick up at your local grocery store.
Dry Brush
There’s a lot of talk about what Dry Brushing can do. It’s been done for centuries in many cultures and has most recently been on the hot lists of wellness blogs and expensive salons. While the jury is out on its effectiveness in regards to stimulating the lymph system, helping the body rid itself of toxins, and increase circulation or energy, we totally agree on it’s wonderful ability to exfoliate skin. When you exfoliate your skin it can help decrease your chances of getting ingrown hairs, increase softness, and help your skin lock in moisture. We love doing a quick dry brush once a week, or a day before a wax, right before we hop in the shower.
Virgin Coconut Oil
Coconut oil hit the wellness scene about a decade ago, and for good reason. This versatile and natural oil is awesome for many many reasons. But we absolutely love it for it’s moisturizing, protective, and anti-inflammatory effects on those sensitive parts of our bodies. We swipe some of this magic oil on after a wax and the days following to help reduce inflammation, give our skin some extra natural moisture, as well as help protect our skin from microorganisms that like to sneak into empty hair follicles. Pick up some organic virgin coconut oil the next time you’re grocery shopping and get to moisturizing!
